80 Year Old Pedestrian Dies In Road Crash

An elderly woman died after she was knocked down by a 26 year old driver as she was crossing the road.

The incident took place in Yardley in Birmingham on 16 February.

West Midlands Ambulance Service attended the accident scene and found that the woman has sustained multiple serious injuries.  She was also in cardiac arrest.

The 26 year old fled the scene after causing the accident, but later handed himself in at the police station.

He has been charged with causing the death of the woman and will appear before court on 18 February.

The car that was involved in the accident was found in Solihull, about 6 km from the accident spot.

Although the woman’s family has been informed about her death, police have not yet named her publicly.
