Claim against Trebor Bassett

22/11/11: A female employee who injured her back by lifting boxes of sweets is to seek compensation.

Teresa Bialochleb was employed by Trebor Basset Ltd at the time of the accident in January 2006. She worked on the Basset production line filling and loading boxes onto pallets.

She felt sudden pain in her back and sustained the injury whilst lifting boxes. Mrs Bialochleb has not been able to work since the accident despite having no back problems beforehand. It is now difficult for her to carry out everyday household chores as a result.

Local press has reported that Mrs Bialochleb made a complaint against the company which a York court rejected. However, she is appealing the decision at the Appeal Court and her legal team are to argue that the boxes were too heavy for a woman to lift.

The appeal hearing will take place at a later date.
