Man injured in quad bike accident on holiday in Cyprus

A Walsall family have launched a Facebook appeal to raise £10,000 to bring home Kieron Kellar from Cyprus.

22 year old Kellar was seriously injured whilst on holiday when a lorry knock him off a quad bike. The incident happened during the evening of 29/07/11 in the popular tourist resort of Ayia Napa.

Mr. Kellar of Cromwell Close, Bentley, a former student at Birmingham University, was holidaying with friends when the accident happened. He stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated by an ambulance crew at the scene. He also had to be resuscitated at the hospital. His injuries are serious and potentially life-changing due to spinal damage, a broken leg and broken ribs. Surgeons also had to remove his spleen.

The holidaymaker had travel insurance but the company has refused to pay the fees, claiming his particular policy did not cover the use of quad bikes.

Mr. Kellar had just completed his Sports Management Degree.
