Man Dies In Hospital After A27 Crash

A man has died in hospital after he suffered serious injuries to his head in a crash which happened in Southwick Tunnel in Sussex.

The crash involved a car and a lorry and happened on Thursday on the A27.

The man was a passenger in the car when it was hit by a lorry.

According to the Sussex Police, the man was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, but he died later.

The driver of the lorry, a 44 year old man from Doncaster was arrested in connection with the accident.

The Vauxhall was travelling slowly and may have had its hazard lights on when it was struck by the lorry which crossed the central reservation and turned after the collision.

The driver of the car suffered chest and leg injuries.  He received treatment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

The driver of the lorry suffered minor injuries.  He has been released on bail until 16 September.
